Bulgaria Extends Travel Restrictions through End of March

The Government of Bulgaria continues to apply a color-coded system, varying entry rules and requirements based on category. Bulgaria has extended the current entry restrictions for the country until March 31, with new measures for red zone countries.

What to Expect
  • From January 20 to March 31, arrivals from red zone countries must present a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate to enter the country. The negative test result must be a PCR test performed within three days of departure.
  • Bulgarian citizens or permanent residents must present one of the required health certificates (vaccination, recovery, or PCR test) to enter the country. Those who fail to show the documents must undergo a 10-day quarantine, with the possibility to reduce the isolation with testing.
  • Travelers from Green and Orange countries can enter Bulgaria by only presenting one required document (vaccination, recovery, or PCR test).
