Brazil Postpones Visa Requirements for US, Canada, and Australia

The Brazilian Government has postponed the upcoming visa requirement for citizens from Australia, Canada, and the United States of America. Originally slated for October, the requirements will now take effect January 10, 2024. Until then, the exemption will remain valid, meaning that those entering January 9, 2024 are still exempt from the visa requirement even if they leave Brazil after January 10, 2024.

Details
  • The e-visa platform is expected to go live at least 30 days before the enforcement of the visa requirement.
  • Travelers visiting Brazil on or after January 10, 2024, will be able to request their E-Visas in advance.
  • The Embassy of Brazil may grant physical visas to Australian passport holders before the official reinstatement of the visa requirement on an exceptional basis.  For Australian passport holders, the cost of the physical visa is AUD 228 and the list of the requirements can be found here: Visit Visas. The fee for the e-visa will be AUD 152.
