Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) is set to introduce a fully revamped and enhanced identity card.
Among the key improvements are the inclusion of biometric features, increased storage capacity, and improved quality. The revamped ID card will enhance the ease and security of government eServices while ensuring high levels of efficiency and accessibility. Additionally, a newly developed printing system will be introduced to support cost efficiency and reduce maintenance expenses for the government.
The iGA has urged citizens and residents planning to renew their ID cards to wait until their cards expire unless they require immediate renewal. Due to upgrading, the number of available appointments for card services is currently limited. However, customers can access eServices through the National Portal at bahrain.bh.
