Austria Reimposes Full Lockdown and Issues Vaccination Requirement

On Friday, November 19, the Government of Austria announced it would reimpose a total COVID-19 lockdown. Additionally, from February 1, the entire population is required to get vaccinated.

Travel to Austria

Evidence of vaccination, a current PCR test, or recovery from COVID-19 is required for all travelers into the country. Before December 6, 2021, the second dose of vaccines and any subsequent vaccination will be recognized for up to 360* days after they are received.

From December 6, 2021, the validity of these vaccination certificates is reduced to 270 days.

Austria is the first Western European country to retake such measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. However, as the holidays approach, other European governments have begun to reimpose restrictions, and Germany has warned a similar lockdown may be reintroduced.
