Australia’s new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa took effect this past weekend replacing the Temporary Work Skilled visa (Subclass 457). Notably, the new work experience criteria now require at least two years of professional experience within the last five years. The government fees have also changed from one universal fee to differing amounts for short and medium/long-term visas. Additionally, more stringent health requirements have been implemented as a prerequisite to approval. However, please be advised that any 457 visa applications, nominations, or standard business sponsorships filed before March 18 will be processed under the previous rules.
