USCIS to Increase Filing Fees

Summary: On July 31, 2020, the Department of Homeland Security announced a new Final Rule regarding USCIS filing fees.  USCIS has determined after a biennial fee review that it would face an expected $1 billion shortfall under the current fee schedule. The rule accounts for increased costs of immigration adjudication and naturalization service, as well as fraud detection, thorough vetting of individuals, payroll, technology, and operations. The new fee schedule will have a weighted average increase of 20% and will be implemented on any postmarked applications, petitions, and requests starting on October 2, 2020.

Erickson Immigration Group is closely monitoring and will provide an update should USCIS announce any changes.
