EU and UK Leaders Agree to New Brexit Deadlines

Update: Leaders in the European Union and the United Kingdom have agreed to extend the deadline for leaving the EU. As it currently stands, there are now two possible deadlines:

  • June 1, if Parliament doesn’t agree to participate in EU Parliament elections in late May.
  • October 31, if the United Kingdom agrees to participate in EU Parliament Elections in late May.

At any time, if the United Kingdom Parliament can agree to a deal on Brexit, the United Kingdom can leave the EU. If the United Kingdom does not agree to participate in EU Parliament elections scheduled for late May, then the United Kingdom will exit the EU regardless of a deal in place.

EIG will continue to monitor discussions and decisions from Parliament.
