On September 28, 2026, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) announced the launch of the Kuwait Wage Payment System (KWPS), one of the strategic projects under phase II of the Kuwait National Payment System (KNPS2), which is managed and operated by CBK.
The system aims to establish an integrated national platform for processing and monitoring wage transfers for private-sector employees through local banks, thereby enabling wages to be disbursed electronically in a secure and reliable manner.
CBK assumes responsibility for the system’s technical and operational management, while the Public Authority for Manpower oversees and monitors the level of compliance by employers with the provisions of KWPS.
