Federal Court Says DHS Violated Law by Restricting Congressional Access to ICE Facilities

Judge Jia Cobb of the US District Court for the District of Columbia ruled last week that DHS likely violated the law by barring members of Congress from visiting ICE detention facilities without giving a week’s notice. Judge Cobb found that DHS’s policy relied on funds Congress allocated, with the proviso that they could not be used to deny lawmakers access to facilities.
