On August 28, 2025, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced new and updated immigration-related fees pursuant to the recently enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1). These changes will take effect September 30, 2025, and impact several key travel and immigration systems administered by CBP.
What’s Changing?
Under H.R. 1, CBP will begin assessing new or increased fees for the following services:

Fee Details
CBP Form I–94 Arrival/Departure Record
Aliens arriving at a land border port of entry must apply for a CBP Form I–94. The total fee for FY 2025 will be $30, which includes the existing $6 fee and a new $24 fee mandated by H.R. 1. This form is not required for air or sea arrivals.
Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)
Travelers entering the US under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) must obtain ESTA approval prior to travel. The fee has increased to $40, reflecting statutory changes under H.R. 1.
Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS)
Nationals of the People’s Republic of China holding 10-year B1/B2 visitor visas must enroll in EVUS before traveling to the US. A new $30 fee will be required at the time of enrollment.
