As of April 6, applications for work permits for foreign nationals will be submitted online on a dedicated platform.
In a press release dated March 30, 2021, the Ministry of the Interior announced the establishment on April 6, 2021, of an online service for work authorization applications for the recruitment of foreign employees and seasonal workers, as well as for students wishing to work beyond the authorized amount of time. Requests can only be made on the site https://administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr/particuliers/
Simplification of Procedures
This system should allow a better distribution of work permit applications and standardization of practices between regions.
In addition, the Ministry is announcing a simplification of the examination criteria and the list of documents to be provided, the exact terms of which are to be determined.
Creation of Interregional Platforms
This implementation is part of the simplification and digitization of administrative procedures. The examination of work permit applications will no longer be the responsibility of the foreign labor service of DIRECCTE but of six interregional platforms created under the authority of the Ministry of the Interior, the regional economic directorates, employment, work, and solidarity (DREETS).
A 7th additional platform will be dedicated to processing applications for seasonal workers.
The current DIRECCTE foreign labor services will no longer process applications as of 1 April. A transition period should therefore be expected during the deployment of the platform, during which the processing times for work permits may be lengthened.
