Brazil Extends the Migratory Regulation Deadline

The Brazilian government has extended immigration status deadlines.

From March 15, all documents that would have expired after March 16, 2020, including RNM cards and other documents from the Federal Police, will remain valid until September 16, 2021, for entry, change of status from temporary to permanent residence, and other status registrations. The National Passport System will not cancel passports during the extension.

Foreign national migratory documents will remain valid if holders have lived in Brazil and have demonstrated intent to update the documents. Foreign nationals who have traveled abroad for a total of 30 days or more will not qualify.

Due to COVID-19, if a foreign national could not leave Brazil, they make request a departure extension.
