The HALF-TA

September 12, 2018

On August 27, 2018, President Trump announced that the United States and Mexico have reached an agreement on key parts of the NAFTA treaty, re-branded as the “United States – Mexico Trade Agreement”. This agreement must be approved by legislatures in both countries to take effect. At this time, Canada is not a part of the new agreement but is moving quickly to rejoin negotiations. According to Peter Navarro, President Trump’s top trade advisor, the agreement does not include matters regarding immigration or the proposed wall to separate the countries.
