Supreme Court Hears Oral Arguments on Third Travel Ban

On April 25, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments regarding the Trump administration’s third travel ban. This ban is currently in effect and applies a permanent ban to most (or all) nationals of Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen, as well as certain Venezuelan government personnel. Both Iraq and Chad were dropped from earlier iterations of the ban. At issue has been whether President Trump has authority to issue the ban and whether it constitutes religious discrimination prohibited by the Establishment Clause of the US Constitution.
