New Zealand | Essential Skills Shortage List Reviewed

Effective May 27, 2019, the Essential Skills in Demand (ESID) lists will be changed. A new Regional Skill Shortage List (RSSL) will be introduced to replace the current Immediate Skill Shortage List. The RSSL will be tailored to each of New Zealand’s 15 regions. The Ministry of Business, Innovation (MBIE) regularly reviews the ESID lists to ensure they preserve employment opportunities for New Zealanders. An employer in New Zealand wishing to hire a foreign national for a role which is on a Skills Shortage List does not need to meet the labor market testing requirement for the Essential Skills Work Visa application.
