Ice Operated Fake University to Target Immigration Fraud

The Department of Homeland Security designed an undercover operation to expose immigration fraud by creating the University of Farmington in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The University, operated by DHS since 2017, accepted enrollments and tuition payments but offered no curriculum or classes. This operation serves as a reminder that foreign nationals should exercise caution in selecting programs of study in the United States. When selecting an institution, foreign nationals looking to enroll in U.S. degree programs should be aware of accreditation guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Education.  The Federal Register publishes a list of recognized accreditation agencies which have the authority to evaluate and accredit educational institutions.  Foreign nationals should only enroll in U.S. universities that have been accredited by a recognized accreditation agency and offer a detailed curriculum and course study.
