International Updates

Germany | Chancellor Angela Merkel announced on Tuesday that the nationwide lockdown would extend until the end of the month. For the first time since the pandemic began, non-essential travel will be restricted. In the hardest-hit areas, movement will be limited to a 9-mile radius.

Portugal | The government has approved an extension for the state of emergency until January 15.

Switzerland | The government plans to extend the lockdown for another 5 weeks until the end of February. A formal decision is expected next week.
