Brexit Update: An Extension to 2020

As of today, the EU Council has come to an agreement with the UK government to postpone Brexit until January 31, 2020. An earlier withdrawal is still possible, and it is likely to trigger new elections in the coming months.

No additional information has been provided at this time for a withdrawal plan.

Until January 31, 2020 or agreed upon earlier, the UK will remain part of the EU. EU nationals will continue to have free movement rights to live and work in the UK and vice versa.  The EU Settlement Scheme remains open for eligible applicants to apply prior to the UK leaving the EU. Companies should encourage eligible EU nationals to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme.

As more information becomes available, EIG will continue to provide updates and advice. Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
